Making a Difference (Especially at Christmas)
In the Pocklington community we are very lucky indeed to live in a nice town surrounded by nice, pretty villages. But we do have people within our community that need a little lift, a little care to help them along their path at Christmas, or at any other time.
Community heroes hailed at annual volunteer awards night
A celebration of all things altruistic was the focus of this year’s Pocklington Community Volunteers Awards ceremony.
The event celebrated the role of volunteers across Pocklington and the local area, was held at Pocklington Arts Centre (PAC).
Pocklington lucky to have more Mental Health first Aiders
In August, Pocklington Rugby in the Community, ran its second Mental Health First Aider Course.
By securing funding for this initiative, PRITC has enabled volunteers from many groups in Pocklington to gain the qualification free of charge. The course is intensive, and volunteers have each given up 14 hours of their time to gain the qualification.
3,000 people turn out to enjoy day of activities at PockDown
Pocklington's PockDown family funday was another big success as a record 3,000 people flocked to the town’s rugby club for a day packed with music, entertainment, stalls and activities.
There was a host of trade, food and craft stands, a charity village of local voluntary groups and loads of family activities and exhibitions, all provided for free by the hard working organisers from Pocklington Rugby In The Community, Pocklington Town Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Active Communities Team.
Chance to nominate your local heroes in this year's Pocklington Community Volunteer Awards 2023
Pocklington Rugby in the Community, in collaboration with Pocklington Town Council and East Riding Council, has launched this year’s search for the town’s community heroes.
Nominations are now open for the Pocklington Community Volunteer Awards 2023, which will be taking place at Pocklington Arts Centre on Friday, September 8.
Mission to attract more Pocklington volunteers
A co-ordinator looking to make a real difference in Pocklington is hoping people will come forward and volunteer at a number of groups in the town.
Community volunteer coordinator Louise Partridge has been working with the many organisations that are run by volunteers in Pocklington and the surrounding area.
Local groups come together for an afternoon at the cinema
An initiative by Pocklington Rugby in the Community (PRITC) in collaboration with Pocklington Arts Centre brought together four of Pocklington’s “warm spaces” for a unique afternoon at the cinema.
PRITC’s regular guests were joined by people from Pocklington Methodist Church, All Saints Church and members of the Wolds WI.
Over 60 guests and 15 PRITC volunteers gathered at the Arts Centre for a showing of the Tom Hanks film “A Man Called Otto”. The film was also attended by members of the public.
Pocklington Community Volunteers Awards Ceremony 2022
A number of local volunteers were recognised at the second annual Pocklington Community Volunteer Awards.
The community was asked to nominate volunteers in five different categories and over 80 people came together for the celebration.
Fun day out provided for Ukrainian families.
The Ukrainian flag flew high last week as families from Kyiv, Odessa, Kharkow and Kherson enjoyed a fantastic, organised day trip to Bridlington made possible by Pocklington based charity, PRITC volunteers and donations. All the Children and Adult refugees are staying with host families in East Yorkshire.

Burnby Hall Gardens Friday Social a big success
A magnificent afternoon was had by all when Pocklington Rugby in the Community (PRITC) hosted their monthly social for our local elderly, lonely & isolated residents.
40 local residents enjoyed an afternoon at our beautiful Burnby Hall Gardens where they took a stroll in the sunshine before sitting down to afternoon tea and a glass of fizz to toast Her Majesty the Queen on her Platinum Jubilee in the marquee of the Lilypad Café.

Pocklington residents in for a treat with the return of PockDown family fun day
PockDown returns to Pocklington for 2022 with a packed day of family activities and entertainment at the town’s rugby club on Saturday, July 30.
