Pocklington Rugby in the Community was created to strengthen the community through activities that promote health and well-being and enhance lives for all.

The charity has 3 main aims: to care, to assist, to develop.

To create and strengthen partnerships with other sporting organisations to broaden participation.

To use the central position and excellent facilities of PRUFC, to create a Community Hub.

Increase the number of people of all ages participating in regular social activities.

Volunteering gives me a great sense of worth. But the best part is seeing how much it means to those we are volunteering for

THE YEAR IN REVIEW

The success of 2024 is a testament to our inspiring volunteers, donors and supporters. Highlights have included the development of our invaluable new Parkinson’s Café and activity sessions which have 30 regular attendees. We continue to support charities across the town as they become more robust through our extensive support and training programme. Our community work has been recognised nationally, as we received the coveted King’s Award for Voluntary Service - effectively an MBE for charities. Further appreciation has come from David Davis MP, the Lord High Sheriff and Lord Lieutenant for the East Riding of Yorkshire. Finally, our volunteers continue to amaze us with their dedication, donating over 2362 hours in 2024.

PIE AND PUD

Over 30 guests a month enjoying activities to combat male loneliness. The Social Value Engine shows that every £1 invested in the programme generates £4.11 in social value.

FRIDAY SOCIALS

Each month over 70 elderly people participate in a range of activities including quizzes, music and trips to local venues such as Pocklington Arts Centre and Burnby Hall Gardens.

INCLUSIVE SPORTS

Weekly activity sessions for 15 SEND adults who get active in a friendly environment at Frances Scaife Leisure Centre and Pocklington Tennis Club.

TRAINING AND SUPPORT

Our Community Support and Volunteer Officer continues to offer a wide variety of training for local groups including first aid, governance and fundraising.

FREE EQUIPMENT HIRE

We’ve created a bank of free equipment for local groups to borrow, ranging from gazebos to projectors.

POCKDOWN FESTIVAL

For the first time, we created a SEND programme at our family friendly festival. We worked with Accessible Arts to offer activities, resources and a quiet space for over 200 people.
