Friday 17th January saw a packed main room at Pocklington Rugby Club where over 80 people listened to a fantastic talk from Miriam Payne, the local record breaking Atlantic solo rower.
Christmas Cheer
Pocklington Rugby in the Community volunteers had a busy weekend just before Christmas. On Friday 20th December, they cooked and served 70 hot Christmas dinners in the clubhouse at Pocklington Rugby Club, in an effort to bring some Christmas cheer to residents in our local community. We were delighted to welcome Sir David Davis MP and Pocklington Town Mayor, Roly Cronshaw, who were very interested in the work of the charity following it being awarded the prestigious Kings Award for Voluntary Service.

Pocklington Rugby in the Community (PRITC), an East Yorkshire charity dedicated to strengthening Pocklington and surrounding areas through activities that promote health, wellness, and community spirit, has been awarded a major national accolade in recognition of its outstanding voluntary service efforts - the distinguished King's Award for Voluntary Service.
Supporting Parkinson’s
PRITC was asked to work in partnership with Parkinson’s UK and East Riding’s Active Communities Team, to address the lack of support for people diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the area.
Pocklington Community Volunteers Awards Ceremony 2024
The fourth Community Volunteer Awards Ceremony was held on Friday 18th October, at Pocklington Arts Centre, to thank and celebrate the amazing work volunteers do in our community. The roles that these incredible volunteers fulfil varies tremendously, and many of the activities and events that take place in our community would not be available if it wasn’t for these amazing people freely giving up their time and energy.
Congratulations Val
Val French, a dedicated member and trustee of the PRITC, has been honoured with the Mayor's Award for outstanding long-term achievements in the community.
Val's efforts with Pocklington Rugby in the Community, alongside other charities and organisations have transformed many lives, promoting physical and mental well-being. Her initiatives, including the annual Ladies Sportive and holiday meal programs for the vulnerable, highlight her tireless dedication and impact on the community.

Pocklington lucky to have more Mental Health first Aiders
In August, Pocklington Rugby in the Community, ran its second Mental Health First Aider Course.
By securing funding for this initiative, PRITC has enabled volunteers from many groups in Pocklington to gain the qualification free of charge. The course is intensive, and volunteers have each given up 14 hours of their time to gain the qualification.
3,000 people turn out to enjoy day of activities at PockDown
Pocklington's PockDown family funday was another big success as a record 3,000 people flocked to the town’s rugby club for a day packed with music, entertainment, stalls and activities.
There was a host of trade, food and craft stands, a charity village of local voluntary groups and loads of family activities and exhibitions, all provided for free by the hard working organisers from Pocklington Rugby In The Community, Pocklington Town Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Active Communities Team.
Mission to attract more Pocklington volunteers
A co-ordinator looking to make a real difference in Pocklington is hoping people will come forward and volunteer at a number of groups in the town.
Community volunteer coordinator Louise Partridge has been working with the many organisations that are run by volunteers in Pocklington and the surrounding area.
Local groups come together for an afternoon at the cinema
An initiative by Pocklington Rugby in the Community (PRITC) in collaboration with Pocklington Arts Centre brought together four of Pocklington’s “warm spaces” for a unique afternoon at the cinema.
PRITC’s regular guests were joined by people from Pocklington Methodist Church, All Saints Church and members of the Wolds WI.
Over 60 guests and 15 PRITC volunteers gathered at the Arts Centre for a showing of the Tom Hanks film “A Man Called Otto”. The film was also attended by members of the public.
Burnby Hall Gardens Friday Social a big success
A magnificent afternoon was had by all when Pocklington Rugby in the Community (PRITC) hosted their monthly social for our local elderly, lonely & isolated residents.
40 local residents enjoyed an afternoon at our beautiful Burnby Hall Gardens where they took a stroll in the sunshine before sitting down to afternoon tea and a glass of fizz to toast Her Majesty the Queen on her Platinum Jubilee in the marquee of the Lilypad Café.
New volunteer coordinator role created in Pocklington to support area’s organisations
Louise Partridge, Pocklington’s Community Volunteer Coordinator would like to invite volunteer group leaders and trustees of volunteering groups to Pocklington Arts Centre on Wednesday 27th July, 6pm – 8pm
