Local groups come together for an afternoon at the cinema

An initiative by Pocklington Rugby in the Community (PRITC) in collaboration with Pocklington Arts Centre brought together four of Pocklington’s “warm spaces” for a unique afternoon at the cinema.

PRITC’s regular guests were joined by people from Pocklington Methodist Church, All Saints Church and members of the Wolds WI. Over 60 guests and 15 PRITC volunteers gathered at the Arts Centre for a showing of the Tom Hanks film “A Man Called Otto”. The film was also attended by members of the public.

The guests enjoyed ice creams prior to the showing of the film, and refreshments were provided in the studio afterwards whilst they watched a video of the PRITC Christmas Party.

A fantastic afternoon was had by all and we look forward to repeating the event in the future and hopefully developing a regular PRITC “film club” in addition to PRITC’s regular monthly social events.

Louise Partridge, Pocklington Community Volunteer Coordinator, said “We were delighted to come together to give members of our community an opportunity to socialise and enjoy an excellent film at The Arts Centre in a warm, friendly environment. This event would not have been possible without all of our amazing PRITC volunteers, who also collected guests using the Beverley Community Lift minibus.

We are extremely grateful for the help and support from Dave Parker, Angela Stone and the staff and volunteers at Pocklington Arts Centre, who gave us all such a warm welcome. We must also say a huge thank you to Mary Foster, Agent to NFU Mutual, who supported the event and we are grateful for NFU Mutual’s continued generosity.’

The town's warm spaces, which are funded by the ‘Do It For East Yorkshire Community Grant’, continue until the end of March at The Christian Fellowship Church, The Methodist Church, All Saints Church, The Arts Centre and The Rugby Club. The next PRITC monthly social at the rugby club is scheduled for 31st March.
