NFU Mutual supports Pocklington Rugby in the Community to help local relief efforts
NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at the local Pocklington agency are delighted to have nominated local charity Pocklington Rugby in the Community (PRITC) to receive a donation of more than £3,000 from a national £1m ‘Agency Giving Fund’ launched by NFU Mutual’s Head Office.
In light of the national emergency this country is facing, NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, has allocated £1m to help local frontline charities at this difficult time.
To help ensure this support reaches all corners of the UK, NFU Mutual has reached out to its Appointed Representative network of local Agents. Consisting of circa 300 independent Agency businesses and 9 NFU Mutual Branches, each have been given the opportunity to nominate a local charity to receive a share of this fund.
Half of the £3,000 donation will be split between the People's Pantries, a self service food bank, in Pocklington, Market Weighton and Holme on Spalding Moor. The remaining money will be used to support PRITC with its ongoing programme of work across the local community supporting elderly, isolated, and disadvantaged groups and individuals.
Appointed Representative for the NFU Mutual in Pocklington, Mary Foster, said: “The Coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on everybody, including our customers and their local communities. Pocklington Rugby in the Community is making a wonderful difference to our community in these challenging times, and we are proud to have been able to nominate this local charity to benefit from NFU Mutual’s national fund.”
Andy Bowden, Chair of PRITC said: “We’re extremely thankful to NFU Mutual in Pocklington for nominating our charity to receive a donation from the NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund. The money will go a long way to help us in our ongoing efforts to strengthen the community through activities that promote health and well- being. Since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, PRITC has worked in partnership with other local community volunteer groups, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the HEY Smile Foundation and the People’s Pantry to coordinate activities and support right across the local area via over 100 volunteers, providing a daily support network to vulnerable residents across our market town and 21 surrounding villages. Without these type of donations this simply isn’t possible.”
