3,000 people turn out to enjoy day of activities at PockDown
Pocklington's PockDown family funday was another big success as a record 3,000 people flocked to the town’s rugby club for a day packed with music, entertainment, stalls and activities.
There was a host of trade, food and craft stands, a charity village of local voluntary groups and loads of family activities and exhibitions, all provided for free by the hard working organisers from Pocklington Rugby In The Community, Pocklington Town Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Active Communities Team.
The fine day helped a full and varied programme; live music ranging from a community pop choir to rock bands, food menu from pizzas to Caribbean specialities, and the family activities spanned sumo suits to an alpaca, plus sporting taster sessions, face painting and the biggest array of bouncy castles and inflatables that the town has seen.
PockDown is now established as Pocklington's main summer event, a spokesperson reporting: "We were delighted to deliver the third PockDown funday. Again managing to raise sufficient funds made it free to all, so thanks everyone who donated their generous support.
"The weather was kind and a record attendance made it a great success. With ongoing assistance we look forward to next year being even bigger and better.
"Thanks to all our volunteers, the tireless organising group and ERYC’s Do it for East Yorkshire grants team for their continued support. And to Addplant, Pocklington RUFC, Coopers Marquees, Hey Smile Foundation Vault, Cockerill Ltd and Pocklington Runners for their contributions to making the day possible."
